During the summer months, S.T.E.P. staff, interns, and volunteers, adopt a public housing community to sponsor a site-based summer enrichment program. The objective of the program is to keep idle kids off the streets and out of trouble while providing a wholesome summer learning experience. More than 60 school-age children participate in the program each year. The program offers life skills training, reading development, creative writing, real life science, arts and crafts, and bible lessons. To ensure maximum participation, the program is free of charge, provides snacks, and is held on site at the neighborhood’s community center.
